In her work, Sara Badr Schmidt combines various media and techniques, ranging from painting and photography to video, textiles and screen printing.
Images and text, light and matter, sound and touch intertwine in the form of installations. She reflects on the coexistence of cultures, on the unresolved issue of territorial belonging, on the political and social identity of places, and on the possibility or dream of balance and coexistence between peoples, regardless of violated borders. Thus, her projects question the limits of borders but also the enrichment that different cultures bring. She offers an alternative interpretation of borders—both geographical and temporal—between countries through their skies and languages.
Her works highlight the reality and the absurdity of borders. They also address the limits of the body and its environment, thereby questioning the place of each individual. Both poetic and political, Sara Badr Schmidt’s works seek to convey the bipolar relationship between beauty and tragedy.
